Thoughts on Kesler and the goaltending: by Kirk Lethbridge
Last year in the playoffs, I could not but help notice the many many cheap shots taken at Blackhawk stars by Calgary and Vancouver. Michael Cammelari at face-off on Martin Havlat, the numerous crosschecks from behind by Ryan Kesler and other poor innocent Canucks. (They cry foul to the referees yet seem to have a charmed existence in regard to punishment of violence against Blackhawks).
How many hits from behind can they get away with? Headhunting, looking to deliberately hurt someone, especially Patrick Kane or Jonathan Toews.
I say this: Send a warning... that the Sedin sisters (Henrik and Daniel), and Roberto Luongo, are number one targets should any of ours be crosschecked from behind again or head shotted with vicious intent. Let them know that Ben Eager will crash Luongo, that Buff will hit the Sedin sisters high and hard, and let them know that we fear nothing.
The real coward is the one who cries to the media about getting his face punched in, and cries to the media about the referee picking on him etc. etc. ad nauseum.
On another note...we should get Jean-Sebastien Giguerre and Scott Niedermayer. We can't win with an unproven goalie...and the playoffs will be tough...very very tough...one goal games and our unproven goalies....ouch... there's always next year is something we are all getting tired of saying. Hate to have to say it because we never got a goalie. Giggy has a good run left, he at least stands up... unlike Neimi who they say the word is out on him that he sits on his ass all the time and just shoot high. Huet can't put three good games together... if he was a solid number one he would not have to sit out... don't see Luongo or Brodeur sitting out every second or third game do you? Of course not. They are legit number ones.
So let's get a real goalie who has won something... and fits right into a stingy defense...along with an veteran d-man.
