Blackhawk Zone: The Voice of the Fans

Koolaid crowd beware

Fan Commentary, by Frank

I know that the koolaid crowd is going to jump all over me for this, but something is seriously wrong with this team and they look very ripe for a first round playoff exit. I hope that I am wrong on this one, but I just don't see a long playoff run in their future.

I would love to know what the hell is going on in the locker room right now. I just get the impression that things are not as kosher as they seem.

One of the stat experts can pull the record since the blowup in Minnesota back in January, but I would have to think that they are not much more than a .500 team since the blowup in Minnesota.

Huet is going to be sulking the rest of the year. I just don't see him coming back from the disaster last night. Time to get him the hell away from this team. I don't think that Crawford is the answer either since he has been mostly in the minors for the past few years, so this is going to be a serious need to be addressed in the offseason.

Memo to everybody else, it is easy to score goals and float in your own zone in October and November when the games don't count. I have seen numberous bad habits creep into the game since the Minnesota game. Some of the forwards need to take a class on playing in their own end and the defensemen need to stop running around like chickens with their heads cut off and just do their job and trust their teammates to do theirs.

I have gotten the impression that people are running all over the place since they don't trust their teammates to just do their job and taking all matters into their own hands.

I realize that the Hawks are sitting near the top of the conference, but they are backing into the playoffs, not heading in on a high note or with a lot of confidence. Can they turn the switch back on in a few weeks if they continue to play the type of hockey that they are playing? The goalies can't save them every night, as Niemi did on Tuesday when he covered up a lot of the bad play in their own zone.

They will be easy pickings for whoever they play if this style of game over the past few months keeps going.

And one more unrelated note. What the Hell was Adam Burish doing when he pumped his fist after scoring the goal that made it 8-3 last night? Why would he be happy after scoring a meaningless goal in a game when every player took it on the chin.

This note is raw and unedited, so take my 2 cents for what they are worth. Ok, flame me and tell me why I should plan for a parade down Michigan avenue.
